Meet Mark
Mark was only in his early 20s when a serious motor vehicle accident left him with a brain injury and in a wheelchair, the left side of his body paralysed.
Mark is now 60 years old and was recently hospitalised for a pressure injury. At the same time, his support services were abruptly terminated. Mark’s Support Coordinator was under the pump to find a new provider before he could be released from hospital, so we stepped in to take on his care.
What did Mark need?
After chatting with Mark, it became apparent that what he really wanted was to go home and live independently for as long as possible.
How we helped him
- We provided 2 hours of high-intensity 2-person support services for him per day, 7 days a week, including personal care, bowel care, meal preparation and social support.
- We provided nurses to look after his wound care needs.
- We matched him with a team of 10 rotating care workers that were experienced with his specific needs.
We’re proud and happy to support Mark in his goals and help him to live independently in his own home on his own terms for as long as possible.
